If you’re like me, you’ve noticed a while ago that time … flies!!! It feels like hours are shrinking, the day seems shorter and we cannot do as much as we want, do we?!

So recently I’ve started to play with… time, approaching it from different perspectives.

Perspective 1: Thinking that’s not enough time to get the results I want until a self-imposed due date. So I start putting many actions on my daily agenda and focused on doing them until the end of each day. Well, what I’ve considered end of the day! 🙂
The result: while at the beginning I was quite in time with my daily actions (and going to sleep during the early hours in the morning), soon the fatigue caught up and I even had days when I have to stop doing anything since I couldn’t focus any more.

Perspective 2: The fatigue’s imposed break came right in time, to help me understand that there’s another perspective that I can try. I set my agenda for the day, and do as much as I could until the sleep time (11pm) kicks in. Tomorrow it’s another day, isn’t it?!
The result: I loved more this perspective, because now I wake up very early in the morning, relaxed and with many more ideas. It’s like a magical power talks to me, telling me what to do… and I love those ideas! They really make sense with what I plan to do! Being more relaxed each day, I can take a lot of actions aligned with my objectives, even take breaks in between… when spontaneity plays full on! 🙂

Perspective 3: It’s not only my feeling that time is shrinking, scientists too say that time is accelerating. If this is happening, isn’t this the right moment to reconsider each and every action we take, before even taking it?!
If you have a business, you know that time is a valuable resource, an investment if you want to see it this way. You’re more careful what you do with your time, because if you don’t do anything or not much in alignment with your business goals, the results will soon tell you!
Those around you (especially those who have jobs) might not believe that you have to be more cautious about your time, but hey… they’re not paying your bills and grow your business. It really is a mindset difference between business owners and employees, and it’s hard (but not impossible!) to cross the “border”. Being clear about it helps more than ignoring this mindset difference.
Yes, it takes time to understand and adjust from one to another… because the values are so different! It’s not only about money.

Perspective 4: Employee’s perspective on time is a little more relax, days are passing by… money comes in (even in a stressful work environment). I think it’s time to take charge of the way we look at time, even from an employee’s perspective. Use it in your advantage: find something that you like about working there and focus on it, so you can spend those hours and feel happier too… while working at a preferred plan B or C in parallel. Some people might think that time is linear, and we should do things sequentially. I believe that time is flexible, if we do take actions in parallel (those that we can), instead of expecting to take one action after another.

So, are you spending or investing your time?
What’s your perspective on time?

People represent time as straight line; I reckon they are wrong; time is a big curve through space – that’s why a set amount of time, say a week, goes by so much faster than a week a few years ago. Just think how much longer it takes to get from A to B on a twisty road than on a straight one.

Thanks for your comment, Rosalie. I would add: even in this time, doing things that we don’t like makes us feel that time goes by slower when … when we do things that we like.
