The parents’ role is to create a safe space that enables self Overprotected childdiscovery, and facilitates the expression of their child personality… not to impose their own ideas on how the child should be or become.
The better they play that role, the more the child stays in touch with his/her own inner wisdom and guidance, and becomes a well rounded adult (capable of making great decisions for him/herself).
Overprotecting parenting is not a safe space for child, because it teaches him/ her to always expect help from others … which could lead in time to disappointment, and less resourcefulness.
When parents become more aware of their impact in shaping the child’s future, they can adjust their own behaviour, and lead by example!
