I caught an interesting dialog in my head yesterday, like a “dance” between some of my inner selves. They didn’t sit on chairs though. 🙂 figure_sleves_

The Controlling self wants to know all details about the situation I’m dealing with, and what I can do to keep it under control, so I can relax after. Nice from it thinking about relaxing, but it doesn’t work this way; life goes on, something else happens that it wants to take control of, and my relaxing is … postponed.
On another side, my Allowing self wants to wait for the right idea, moment and action before it acts. This self is relaxed, enjoying the in-between action breaks, but a Fear start surrounding it: “What if you’re too busy with something and don’t catch the idea, or not getting it right? What if you just passed the right moment, or the action you’d like to take is not the best one?”
At this point, the Knowing self kicks in: “I know that everything is OK. If you didn’t catch the right idea, the right moment or took a wrong action you’ll have another chance later to do it right, according to the circumstances of that moment. Hey, chill out, don’t beat yourself too much! You have more chances to get it right from the beginning when you chill out!” 🙂
“How can I?!”, answers Controlling. “Look how many things need to be done, situations to deal with! Common, give me a break!”
“That’s exactly what we’re asking you to do (to take a break)!”, speak as one voice the Allowing and Knowing selves.
Suddenly a silence, an unusual silence takes over.
“What’s going on here?” asks the Action self. “I thought we’re supposed to do something now!”
“Shut up!” … “Chill out!” … “Relax!” shout at unison Controlling, Knowing and Allowing selves, “This is exactly the action we’re taking right now, a moment of silence to ponder what was just said and come up with something … together!”

How many times we have such dialogues in our heads, maybe not even noticing?! No wonder why we sometimes take longer breaks before taking an action (losing momentum), or act impulsively without pondering all the details and ideas we have.
Does it happen to you too? 🙂
