IMG_4342_phAn interesting discussion popped up on facebook, started by the question: “How do you make time for creativity?”

“Set time for it in your agenda, or just do it”, was my first reaction and I continued: “I usually allow myself time for that in week-ends: it’s relaxing for me, combined with outdoor activity.”
Then someone answered the same question: “You have to allow it first!”
“Before allowing”, I replied, “it’s accepting that creative side of us that wants to be expressed … it won’t go away! It even makes us happy when we allow it. It took me years to understand that. And what I find now? It has a ripple effect: more I allow it, more positive effect has on others (beside the boomerang effect mentioned above). And to make peace with my mind (focused on my coaching business), I bring now my art into my business… because both have the same positive impact, and they can compliment very well. 🙂 So, I’m more willing now to give my creative side the time it needs.”

What do you think about this topic? How do you make time for creativity?

Usually, my creativity pops out when I need it! Like when my Daughter said “Mommy, can you make a cape (or a dress, or a skirt) for me? I want to be like..this, and this….” Is a challenge because she dreams high, but the smile on her face pays off.
I should plan a day for sewing.

    Thank you, Gabriela

Welcome Mihaela, thanks for your comment!
Planning for a sewing day it’s a great idea, if you enjoy it. Yes, creativity pops out usually, and I don’t think it’s related only to the artistic side.
The initial question for this blog post was related to the artistic side, for someone who has a business (that doesn’t include art).
